Morocco

Morocco is one of the world's most emerging overseas real estate market; it is in many ways a country apart, having attracted over the years vast increasing numbers of people considering second homes.  Indeed, in recent years prices in the Country have jumped by as much as 50 per cent on the back of this popularity.

Morocco’s climate, geography, and history are more similar to the Mediterranean than to the rest of Africa. In the north, its fine beaches, lush highland valleys, and evocative old cities reinforce this impression. However, in the south and east regions, into and over the starkly beautiful ranges of the Atlases, Morocco's Mediterranean character melts away like a mirage.

The legal system in Morocco is Latin-based and similar to that in France and Spain. Foreign real estate ownership is allowed in Morocco, though foreigners cannot buy agricultural land.  It is best to open a Moroccan bank account that enables foreign currency to be converted to Dirham to be used for the transaction, and for easier repatriation of funds in the future.

For your own peace of mind, it is also strongly advisable to appoint a lawyer who is fluent in your language so that you understand all the legalities and procedures, usually done in the local language.  Giambrone Law LLP can assist its clients with dependable procedures and top expert advice from our office in Casablanca. Buying in Morocco? Look no further. We will help you every step of the way.
